Persons who were involved in the seven murders in Narayanganj have primarily been identified, the high-powered probe committee formed under directive of the High Court has said.
The committee submitted its progress report to the High Court on Tuesday morning.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, a member of the committee, told the Dhaka Tribune that they had submitted the report to the attorney general's office.
"The committee has primarily identified the people involved in the abductions and murders of seven people in Narayanganj," said Mizanur.
He, however, said they have not mentioned the information in the progress report.
The committee has sought four more weeks to dig out the motive behind the murder, said Mizan.
Replying to a query about progress report, CID official Moklesur Rahman said: “Our investigation has been hampered as the confessional statements given by former RAB officials Tareq, Arif and Rana in the lower court was not provided to us.”
On Monday, CID and RAB submitted their progress reports to the attorney general’s office regarding the Narayanganj seven murders following abductions.
On May 5, the High Court ordered an administrative investigation into the killing of Narayanganj Ward Councillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five of their associates.
The seven people were abducted on April 27. Later their bodies surfaced in the Shitalakkhya River. Autopsy reports said they were murdered by professionals.
