BSF held Bangladeshi in Benapole

A Bangladeshi youth has been held by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along with 27 pieces of gold bars weighed 2.5 kilograms from the no man’s land area near Benapole land port on Tuesday morning.

The detainee, M Opu, is the son of Shahjahan Ali, of Rajnagar village under Sharsha police station.

Monir Hossain, officer in-charge of Benapole immigration police and port sources said: “BSF jawans picked Opu up from the no man's land area on 10am while he was trying to enter inside the Indian territory illegally. The BSF members have recovered 27 gold bars, searching his body.”

BSF members claimed that Opu was a gold smuggler, said the OC.

Later, he was handed over to Bangaon police station in India after quizzing. A case was also filed in this connection with the Bangaon police, said Benapole police.
