President Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for Bolivia and the United States for a 10-day official visit on Thursday morning.
The president left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a regular Emirates Airlines flight at 10:20am, Reported BSS.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, dean of the diplomatic corps, cabinet secretary, chiefs of the three services and concerned high civil and military officials were present at the airport to see him off.
President Hamid will attend the "Commemorative Summit of G77 and China" to be held at Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia on June 14-15.
The President will reach Santa Cruz, the business state of Bolivia, on June 13 and the next day join the inaugural ceremony of the summit along with other heads of state and government under the group G77.
On June 15, President Hamid will address the summit focusing on various issues related to common interests of the platform of G77.
The G77, established in 1964, is the largest inter- governmental organization of developing countries within the UN system with a membership of 133. Bangladesh is a member of the G77.
Bolivia is the current chair of G77 and the organization commemorates its 50th anniversary this year. Food security, poverty reduction and creating sustainable ways to protect the earth are on the agenda of the summit.
After attending the summit, the President will leave for Bolivia and reach New York on June 16.
During his visit to the United States, President Hamid will visit the United Nations Secretariat in New York and hold a meeting with UN Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon on June 19.
Besides, the President will attend a reception to be accorded by Bangladesh community, residing in the US, on June 17.
The Kishoreganj Samity in New York will also accord a reception to President Hamid on June 18.
The President is expected to leave New York on June 21 and return home on June 22 evening.
