Muhith: No scope of whitening money

Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said there is no provision of whitening black money in the budget for the fiscal year 2014-15.

The minister made the remarks in the post-budget press conference held at Osmani Auditorium in the capital on Friday afternoon.

“I did not mention the matter in my budget speech. But, there is no scope for investing black money to any sector,” said Muhith.

The minister said: “In last two years, nothing much was invested with the opportunity. The government received Tk34 crore from the money in last fiscal year that indicates only Tk340 crore was whitened."

He also said political instability cannot harm the implementation of the national budget for the fiscal year 2014-15.

He urged the politicians to practice tolerance.

“There is no problem being highly ambitious if it can achieve success,” said Muhith.

State Minister for Finance M A Mannan also echoed the minister as saying the country has seen calmness and stability in the post-election time, so the budget will be well implemented.

In the press conference, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the implementation of the big budget would not be a problem, because the government bodies have proven themselves efficient to collect the expected revenue to finance the budget.

He also said the budget has reflexed our exceptions.
