Two school students have been killed and four others wounded as passenger train hit a human hauler at Krittipur rail crossing under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased are Mahua, daughter of Shahjahan Ali Khokon of Karim Ali village and a class VII student. The other deceased is Habiba, daughter of Habibur Rahman of Gulnagar village and a class VIII student.
Ahmad Ali Shahin, a local resident, said they were the students of Burujbagan High School.
Locals and police said Jessore Benapole Commuter Express train hit the human hauler at Krittipur rail crossing around 1:10pm, killing the girls on the spot.
They alleged that there was no gateman at the railway crossing.
Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha police station has confirmed about the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
