Two boys have been rescued after paying TK2,00,000 as ransom in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah.
Harinakundu police Officer-in-Charge Ershadul Kabir Chowdhury has told the Dhaka Tribune.
The rescued boys are Abhik Hossain, 13, son of Sujan Hossain and Liton Hossain, 14, son of Matiar Rahman of Shipur village of Chuadanga sadar upazila. They are the students of Shibpur Secondary School.
Guardians of the two boys paid the ransom to the abductors first. Later, they kept them at a house of Laltu, son of Shukur Ali of Poltadanga village, under the upazila, the OC said.
Upon receiving information from the guardians, Harinakundu police rescued the abducted two boys from the house of Laltu on Wednesday morning.
Police have also arrested a young man Laltu for his alleged involvement in the abduction incident.
Laltu was an activist of the outfit Purba Bangla Communist Party.
He has been collecting ransom in the name of his outfit groups in the locality for last couple of years.
The police have been making drive to nab the other members of the abduction gang involved in abduction and other crimes.
The rescued boys were handed over to their guardians in the morning.
Earlier, the guardians had filed separate cases about the incidents with Harinakundu police, OC said.
