Seven passengers of an auto-rickshaw have been killed and three others injured as a truck rammed into it in Rajghat area on Jessore-Khulna highway on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Faruk Hossain, 40 of Alka village in Khulna, Mantu Karmaker, 40, of Phultala upazila in Khulna , Tutul Mallik, 35, Nauli village under Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore, Gopal Bala, 60 ,of Paigram Kashba village under Phultala upazila, Iqbal Mollah, 40 of Shubharara village under Abhaynagar upazila and Paritosh Kumar Saha, 55 of Phultala upazila in Khulna and Sagir Hossain, 30 of Paigram Kashba village.
Abhaynagar police station officer-in-Charge Molla Khabir Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune that seven persons were killed in the accident.
He said the accident took place in front of Ahad Cement Factory at Rajghat around 7:30am when a truck smashed the auto-rickshaw, leaving the seven auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot and three others injured.
On information, police recovered the bodies and handed over to the family members, the OC added.
The injured were admitted to Abhaynagar upazila Health Complex.
