Over 500,000 pregnant women and new mothers have registered with Aponjon, the newly-launched SMS service with essential maternal and child health related information.
To commemorate the milestones of Dnet, the leading pioneer of the service, a programme was arranged at Spectra Convention Centre in the capital on Thursday, where the stakeholders concerned were present.
Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division under Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology, inaugurated the event of Aponjon which is a global initiative.
Speakers said expecting mothers, new mothers and their family members can dial 16227 to register with the service from any mobile operator and they would get each SMS at a cost of Tk2, which will continue until the baby is year old.
With the service, the subscribers can call and receive advice from certified doctors.
