Bangladesh Nazrul Abritti Parishad celebrates Nazrul’s birthday

Bangladesh Nazrul Abritti Parishad (BNAP) organised a recital programme titled “Amar Apnar Cheye Apon Jey Jon” yesterday at the Shawkat Osman Memorial auditorium to celebrate the 115th birth anniversary of the National Poet.

The programme opened with a brief discussion on Nazrul, followed by recitation of poems. Nazrul connoisseur and BNAP president Nasim Ahmed presided the event.

Due to the pleasant weather conditions yesterday, the event saw a gathering of a large number of Nazrul exponents from around the country. The life, work and ideology of the rebel poet was cherished by all and a storm of applause followed each and every recital.

Around twenty three participants read out Nazrul’s poems bringing some of the finest recitals to the show. “Bhoi Korio Na He Manob” an Islamic poem of Nazrul was presented by Syed Al Jaber Ahmed, a power-packed recitation which was recognised instantly as a call to rise-up against the autocrats. Nasim Ahmed commanded the rebel poet’s “Bidrohi” with superior vocal skills, which filled the auditorium with his impassioned recital notes. The recital programme also included Professor Bishwajit Ghosh, Dr Razia Sultana, educationalist Shaila Ahmed, poet Zakir Abu Zafar, Mohammed Yusuf and Mohammed Abdur Rahman Rakib.

To promote the verbal rendition of all the genres of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s literature, Dhaka Tribune was the media partner of the event.
