Six Bangladeshi bodies arrive Friday

The bodies of six Bangladeshi migrant workers killed in a fire in Riyadh are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

They are: Matiur Rahman, Mohammad Jalal, Md Selim, and Shah Alam of Comilla, Khorshed of Madaripur and Zakir Hossain of Noakhali.

The flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the bodies is scheduled to land at 3pm at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, says a press release of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board.

“I would hand over the dead bodies to the relatives at the airport,” director of welfare board Md Ziauddin told the Dhaka Tribune over phone on Thursday.

He said each of the relatives would be given a cheque of Tk35,000 for transport and burial cost. The relatives have been advised to bring necessary documents.

The government will also give Tk300,000 to each of the relatives of dead migrants.

On May 12, 2014, nine Bangladeshis were killed in fire at Titas Furniture in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia.
