‘PM urges Japan to recruit workers’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has requested the Japanese PM to recruit workers from Bangladesh in the sector of construction.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has made the disclosure at a press conference on Thursday afternoon in the capital.

He was briefing the media on the four-day official visit of the prime minister to Japan.

Alam said: “The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe has assured Hasina to take the request into consideration.”

Olympic 2020 will be held in Japan and for this foreign workers are needed. Moreover, more workers are needed for the construction work in the Tsunami engulfed areas in Japan.

The minister said the PM emphasised on Japanese investment in Bangladesh during her meeting with Shinzō Abe.

He also elaborated about Hasina's meeting during the visit.

Earlier in the day, Hasina returned home after concluding her four-day official visit to Japan.
