Cooperation between the naval forces of Bangladesh and Oman could be increased by exchanging young officers between the countries for training.
The idea was proposed by Captain Anwar Hossain, commanding officer of two Bangladesh Navy ships anchored at the Port of Salalah, while exchanging views with Captain Amor Humaid Hamood Al Zakwani, southern naval area commander for the Royal Navy of Oman on Tuesday.
The Bangladeshi ships made a stop at the largest port in Oman on Monday on their voyage to join the United Nation's Interim Force in Lebanon, according to a press release.
Captain Al Zakwani welcomed the idea of exchanging naval officials between the countries and encouraged the diplomatic channels to take care of it.
Both the sides discussed the possibility of bilateral cooperation in naval and maritime affairs.
Mohammad Khorshed A Khastagir, counsellor and Charge d'Affaires of Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat, was also present at the meeting.
