Speaker returns home

Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has returned home on Wednesday after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Parliamentary whips M Shadiuzzaman Sarker, Iqbalur Rahman and M Shahab Uddin received the speaker at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reported BSS.

The speaker represented Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the installation ceremony of the new government in India. During the visit, she also called on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and the new premier and reviewed with them the friendly bilateral relations as well as unresolved issues like the pending water sharing treaty on the Teesta River.
