A huge fish weighing nearly 85 kilograms has been caught in Bagerhat and is being put on sale at Tk1,000 per kilogram by the seller.
Seller Mohammad Zakir claimed that the fish “Bagha Aair” was caught from the Padma river. “I brought the fish on Monday night.”
The fish was put on a sale at the Bagerhat kitchen market on Tuesday morning. Until noon, Zakir could sell almost half of the fish at the price he was asking.
Zakir said the price of the fish – Tk85,000 – was set in consideration of the amount of meat available from a cow or a few goats.
A buyer, England expatriate Ariful Islam, told the Dhaka Tribune he was satisfied with the fish. “We have bigger fishes in England, but they are never fresh.”
