N'ganj killing: Ex-SP, DC give testimony

Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanganj Syed Nurul Islam on Sunday morning has given testimony before the high-powered government’s probe body on the sensational seven murder case in Narayanganj.

Syed Nurul Islam gave his testimony from 10:15am to 1:15pm before the probe body.

In the second haft of the interrogation, former Deputy Commissioner (DC) Monoj Kanti Boral of Narayanganj gave his testimony from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

Mizanur Rahman Khan, deputy secretary of law ministry, on behalf of the probe committee said: “Mentionable progress has not been made over the investigation.”

Former DC Monoj Kanti Boral and SP Syed Nurul Islam were withdrawn on April 29, two days after the abductions of seven persons including panel mayor Nazrul Islam.

On May 22, the probe committee sent letters asking them to be present at the secretariat on Sunday to give deposition over the abductions and killings of seven people in Narayanganj.

On April 27, seven people -- Nazrul Islam and his four associates and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver -- were kidnapped separately.

Six bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River three days later and another the next day.

The other victims are Swapan, Tajul Islam, Liton, Jahangir and Ibrahim.
