Transport strike underway in Sunamganj

The district workers union is observing a dawn-to-dusk transport strike in Sunamganj district on Sunday, demanding the trace of missing driver Rezaul Hoque Sohel.

The strike began around 6am and will continue till 6pm in the evening, said a worker leader.

Meanwhile, no bus has left from the district central bus terminal and Purat bus stand areas.

District Workers Union General Secretary Md Nurul Hoque said: “All type of vehicular movement have been suspended from district sadar to five upazilas including Jamalganj and Dowarabazar.”

“The vehicular movement on Sunamganj-Sylhet road is also suspended,” he said.

The worker leader also threatened to declare tougher programmes if Rezaul was not traced soon.

Earlier, private car driver Rezaul went missing while going to Sylhet on May 4.
