Capturing striking moments of rural life where art meets natural splendour and the beauty of rural women, artist Esmeaker Uddin Ahmed’s second solo exhibition from the 1980’s tell stories of common people who lives in rural Bangladesh. The two-week long solo painting exhibition titled “Bornil Pandulipi (Manuscript In Colours)” inaugurated on May 17 at Shilpangan.
The paintings are inspired by the philosophies of Zainul Abedin, Kamrul, SM Sultan and many others. The exhibition is a lively affair decorated with medium size canvases – cheerful and vivid. Strokes are vibrantly composed with colours which give a bold look to the artworks. Different shades of green with red, blue and yellow doves will also capture the attention of art enthusiasts. The artist expresses his eagerness about peace through paintings of birds in various compositions. Daily life of rural women and festivals are also portrayed on his canvas that reflects his innate understanding of simple lifestyle of the individuals. In an interview with the Dhaka Tribune, the artist said: “I love the simplicity of rustic life and how they relate to nature. The recurrence of ‘women’ and ‘birds’ in my paintings symbolises beauty and peace. I find peace through my canvases.”
The fantastic flick on rural life will exhibit in the city till May 30, everyday from 12-8pm.
