Chhayanaut to observe Nazrul’s 115th birthday

Chhayanaut is all set to observe National Poet Kazi Nazrul’s 115th birth anniversary with a two-day commemorative programme titled “Nazrul Utsob-1421”at the auditorium of Chhayanaut on May 24 and May 25 at 6:30.

Marking the occasion, the country’s cultural arena is now buzzing with varied programmes which give a brief sketch of the vibrant life and works of the rebel poet.

The two-day festival will be opened with a chorus rendition “Hey Partho Sharothi Bajao Bajao Ponchojonyo Shonkho” by student and teachers of the organisation. Professor Seraj Salekin will deliver a speech on the poet’s inspirational works and his secularist and revolutionary spirit on the same day. A total of 60 artistes will take part in the festival that includes discussion, musical performances, dance recitals and recitations.

Prominent singers like Shahin Samad, Ferdous Ara, Yeakub Ali Khan, Khairul Anam Shakil, Yeasmin Mushtarin and many others will grace the occasion. Besides, dancers of Chhayanaut will perform dance recitals on the occasion. Also, Rupa Chakraborty, Belayat Hossain, Mahidul Islam and Fahima Samad will recite Nazrul’s famous poems.

The programme will be wrapped up with the chorus rendition of the National Anthem.  The festival is supported by Grameenphone.
