Depression over Bay likely to intensify further

The depression over East-Central Bay and adjoining area moved slightly North-North-Eastwards over the same area and was centred at midnight last night about 685 kms South South-West of Chittagong port, 595 kms South South-West of Cox's Bazar port, 690 kms South of Mongla port and 645 kms South of Payra Port.

It was likely to intensify further and move in a Northerly directions, said a special weather bulletin by the meteorology department on Thursday.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts. Sea would remain moderate, it said.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoist distant cautionary signal No-one.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised not to venture into the deep sea till further notice.
