Fulgazi Upazila Awami League has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Thursday in protest against the killing of Awami League-backed Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haq.
Abdul Alim, general secretary of Awami League, Fulgazi Upazila unit of Feni, has made the hartal announcement on Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, a total of 23 people have been detained over the brutal killing of an Awami League leader and Upazila Parishad Chairman Ekramul Hoque.
A murder case was lodged with the Feni model police station by the brother of the deceased Jashim Uddin on Tuesday night, he said.
Meanwhile, law enforcers were trying to capture the responsible for the killing, according to him.
The Fulgazi upazila chairman of Feni was shot and burnt to death in his car by miscreants in the district town on Tuesday morning. Three others including a media person were injured in the incident.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered immediate capture of the “culprits.”
