Cricket stars and organisers had an opportunity to have a dip into the ICC World T20 memories as the draw ceremony of the Walton-Dhaka Tribune quiz regarding the cricket extravaganza was held at the Dhaka Tribune office yesterday.
Former national captains Faruque Ahmed and Habibul Bashar, both also the national selectors graced the occasion with their valuable presence and they were also joined by national cricketer Shammsur Rahman Shuvo and Marshal Ayub along with Bangladesh Cricket Board directors Jalal Yunus and Kazi Inam Ahmed. The executive director of Walton Hi-Tec Industries Humayun Kabir was also present during the ceremony and all the distinguished guests drew the coupons to determine the lucky winners. Editor of Dhaka Tribune Zafar Sobhan, executive editor Shahriar Karim and managing editor Jahangir Hyder were also present on the occasion.
The distinguished guests took a walk down the memory lane and reminisced how the slam-bang form of cricket kept the whole nation enchanted with joy. From their part. the cricket organizers thanked the media for the support which enabled BCB to host such a big event successfully. “The T20 World Cup was a big event and hosting 26 national teams simultaneously was quite a tough ask. But Bangladesh hosted it in a superb manner,” said Jalal Yunus.
Dhaka Tribune editor Zafar Sobhan pledged to promote the country’s sport to the highest level. “Bangladesh is making its mark in the international sports arena gradually and it’s both on and off the field. Dhaka Tribune will always be there to promote the country’s sports,” Zafar promised.
