Film festival begins

A three-day film festival and poster exhibition started today at the National Theatre Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The programme celebrates the three decades of the founding of the Bangladesh Film Archive and has been jointly organised by Bangladesh Film Archive, Bangladesh Film Archive Alumni Association (BFAAA) and BSA.

The festival will be inaugurated by renowned author and playwright Syed Shamsul Haque at 4pm today, followed by the screening of “Shurjo Snan” directed by Salahuddin. Narayan Ghosh Mita’s“Nil Akasher Niche” will also be showcased at the event.

Tomorrow, Kazi Zahir’s “Abujh Mon” and Pramadkar’s “Sujon Sokhi,” will be screened at 4pm. Alamgir Kabir’s “Dhire Bohe Meghna” will be shown on the concluding day of the festival at 5:30pm.

On May 17, a discussion session will take place, focusing on the prospects of the Bangladesh film industry. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu will be present at the programme. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA, director Morshedul Islam, president of Bangladesh Film Archive Alumni Association, and Dr  Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, director general of Bangladesh Film Archive, will speak at the event.
