'DMCH strike unethical, action to be taken'

Terming the strike of DMCH honorary doctors as unethical, Health Secretary MM Niazuddin has said action will be taken against those involved with the strike.

He came up with the statement while exchanging views with the journalists at the conference room of Dhaka Medical College Hospital's administrative block on Monday afternoon.

He said: “The strike is not ethical, we do not support it. Actions will be taken against those who are involved with it.”

When asked about stopping the strike, Assistant Director DMCH Dr Khaja Abdur Goffur did not give any answer.

The honorary doctors of DMCH went on a 48-hour strike protesting an assault on one of their fellows on Sunday.

On Saturday, an honorary physician Mominul Islam was beaten up in the capital’s Chankharpul area. Mominul was admitted to DMCH Intensive Care Unit in a critical condition.
