A few hours of moderate rainfall nearly halted life and trade of the port city on Sunday as much of roads have gone knee-deep in water.
The water reached knee-deep or above-knee level in the places includes Muradpur, Sholoshohor, Baddarhat, GEC, Chalkbazar, Halishahar.
The roads saw heavy traffic clogs after the rain that massively slowed down the activities in the city.
Water flooded the ground floor of many houses in these areas.
Commuters were stranded on their way back home as the sudden water-logging created traffic congestion in the city.
According to the Met Department, the rain in the morning was recorded 73.5mm.
