PM for portraying Liberation War in films

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the filmmakers in the country to tell stories of our glorious 1971 Liberation War, and brave acts and sacrifices of the war heroes in their films.

“We have some demands. We want to see our films depicting sacrifices and achievements of the nation in the Liberation War,” she said while addressing the National Film Award-2012 yesterday.

The prime minister handed over the awards to 23 film artistes and technicians in 24 categories for their outstanding performances.

“There were times when attempts were made to erase the history of this supreme sacrifice and great achievements,” she said.

She said that the films should portray the positive sides of life.

“You should show that wrong and bad deeds are not good for life,” she said adding that the films should help the people flourish their noble attitudes.

The prime minister asked the filmmakers to stay away from making films that may lead the youths to wrong paths.

“We should take care that the films don’t misguide youths of the country for choosing the aberrant path.”

Information Ministry organised the programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre with Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu in the chair. Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry AKM Rahmatullah was present as the special guest.
