The central unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has expelled four of its activists for their involvement with an abduction.
A press release has been issued on Saturday, a day after five BCL members were held for abducting a businessman.
The press note, signed by Chhatra League Office Secretary Sheikh Rasel, stated that the activists were suspended because of their involvement in the abduction of a businessman.
The expelled are Srijon Kumar Ghosh, deputy sports secretary, Sheikh Abdul Al Mamun, student affairs secretary of Mohosin Hall, Anup Chandra, vice president of Jagannath Hall and Himel, an activist.
Dhaka University acting proctor Amzad Ali said: "We will take decisions regarding expelling them from the university tomorrow."
On Thursday, police arrested seven people, including six Dhaka University students, for abducting a businessman from Fakirapul area.
Family members claimed that the BCL members have demanded ransom from the relatives of the victim.
