Lt Col Anwar Latif made RAB 11 CO

Lt Col Anwar Latif Khan has been made the commanding officer (CO) for Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 11, several private television channels reported.

Previously, he served as the CO of RAB 5.

On May 6, former Commanding Officer of RAB 11 Tareq Sayeed and two other officials were sent to forced retirement following allegations of their involvment in the abductions and killings of seven people in Narayanganj.

RAB CO Tareq was removed from RAB 11 on April 29.

Nazrul’s father-in-law alleged that the RAB abducted and killed Nazrul and six others in exchange of Tk6 crore.

The Rab was formed in 2004 with the forces from six government agencies — Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Forces, Border Guard Bangladesh and Ansar alongside civil forces for administration purposes.
