A single-episode play adopted from Tagore’s acclaimed short story Darpaharan will be aired today on Maasranga TV at 11:59pm.
In Darpaharan, Tagore exhibits a young man’s passion in harbouring literary ambitions. Though he loves his wife, he wishes to stifle her literary career, deeming it unfeminine. Tagore himself, in his youth, seems to have harboured similar ideas about women. Darpaharan depicts the final humbling of the man via his acceptance of his wife’s talents.
In the TV play featuring Momo and Niloy in lead roles, the male protagonist is sent to a hostel to study for his final exam by his father on his wedding night. His wife stays back with his parents. They keep in touch via Facebook. At one point, the husband returns to the house before his exam begins. His father keeps the love birds separated in two different rooms.
