Narayangonj City Corporation has disapproved country's second largest BNP's application that sought permission for arranging a rally onMay 14.
City mayor Selina Hayat Ivy informed Dhaka Tribune about the rejection on Wednesday.
She said: “The law and order of the city is vulnerable right now and the place BNP chose to gather hosts hospitals, so no public gathering will be allowed there.”
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was supposed to be present at the programme.
Narayanganj has become a volatile place with some abductions and murders throughout the recent weeks.
BNP has been claiming that ruling party leaders and activists are behind the killings and abductions.
