PM:Tagore is the poet of peace

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid tribute to the memory of poet Rabindranath Tagore on the

153rd birth anniversary of one of the world’s greatest poets, BSS reports.

In a message on the eve of the poet's birth anniversary, she said Rabindranath was a rare personality with diversified qualities and geniuses. He was a poet of peace, humanity and eternal beauty of nature, who could deeply realise life and the universe.

She said the poet's creative works helped Bangla literature to gain pride in the global stage.

Sheikh Hasina said the works of Rabindranath Tagore inspired all in the anti- British movement and all our democratic movements including that of the war of liberation.

He was the infinite source of inspiration for the Bangalees for his thought of nationalism; she said adding that the Poet's works touch us in our every crisis, merriment, sadness, hopes and aspirations." Premier expressed.

His thoughts of education inspire all to acquire knowledge and building a science-based society, she added.

Mentioning various literary works of the Nobel laureate poet, Sheikh Hasina said the greatest Bangalee of all time and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman conceived the Poet's works as a source of inspiration in materialising into reality the dreams of Bangalee nation. That's why, she said Bangabandhu took his immortal poem "Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomai Bhalobasi" as the National Anthem of Bangladesh.

"We have set our position in the Guinness Book of World's Record by singing our national anthem in millions of voices on March 26 this year," she mentioned.

Paying tribute to the great poet, Sheikh Hasina said the life and philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore is a guide to eradicates all human conflicts and all sorts of differences across the globe.

"I strongly believe that the presence of Poet Rabindranath in our thoughts would ensure the Bangalees leap forward in resisting communalism and autocracy," the Prime Minister added.
