Minister orders transfer of four BRTA officials, three brokers held

Communication Minister Obaidul Quader asked the chairman of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority yesterday to transfer four officials of its Mirpur office immediately.

The order came after the minister paid a surprise visit to the regional office along with a mobile court.

The officials are office assistants Laiju Begum and Ashikur Rahman who were ordered to be transferred because of their involvement with irregularities, said the ministry’s Public Relation Officer Sheikh Walid Bin Fayez.

Meanwhile, the mobile court sentenced three illegal brokers, Monju, Imran and Jalal, with three-month imprisonment for conducting illegal activities at the office.

Assistant Director Masud Alam and Inspector Abu Nayeem were also transferred since they had been working in the same office for above three years, he added.
