Five killed in road accidents in 3 districts

At least five people were killed in separate road accidents in the Habiganj, Chapainawabganj and Gopalganj districts, yesterday.

In Habiganj, three people were killed and four others were injured in a road accident in the Andhiura area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway under the Madhabpur upazila.

One of the deceased was identified as Ruhul Amin, 17, of the Muradnagar upazila in Comilla.

The identities of the others remain unknown.

Police said a microbus had collided head-on with a pickup van at around 6am, leaving two of the microbus passengers dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were sent to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital one of the injured succumbed to his injuries.

Shaestaganj police station Officer-in-Charge Ezazur Rahman confirmed the incident.

In Chapainawabganj, a truck crashed into a bicycle in the Chairmanpara area of the Nachol upazila at around 9:00am, leaving the bicyclist Nasir, 14, severely injured.

Nasir, son of Obaidullah of the Hakroil area of the upazila, was rushed to the Nachol Upazila Health Complex where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

In Gopalganj, a trader was killed in an accident on the Gopalganj-Poisherhat road under the Sadar upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalalm, the son of Hafiz Fakir.

SI Abul Kalam said a passenger bus had run over Kalam while he was crossing the road. He died on the spot.
