Top beauties of the entertainment industry including veteran actor Natun, eminent dancer Shamim Ara Nipa, Dhallywood sensation Poppy, Mehjabien Chowdhury and others attended the celebration of 50 years of the beauty brand Lux. They have one thing in common; they won millions of hearts with their beauty and talent, and they are all being Lux’s brand ambassadors.
With a host of vibrant programmes, the brand also launched its popular beauty pageant Lux Channel i Superstar 2014. The competition is open to all women across the country, and prizes include title of “Lux Superstar” and a brand new car, after proving their talent, wisdom and creativity in several stages of the competition. The first runner-up will get Tk500,000 and second runner-up will get Tk300,000 along with the opportunity to act in major roles of Channel i’s films and dramas. Faridur Reza Sagar, the Managing Director of Channel i officeally opened the contest and delivered a few words about this year’s Lux Channel i Superstar competition.
A special book titled Lux Book of Beauty and Glamour, capturing the 50 glorious years of Lux in Bangladesh was launched at the event presented by Kamran Bakr, the chairman and managing director of Unilever Bangladesh and Aly Zaker, the group chairman of Asiatic 3 Sixty.
Aly Zaker said: “Lux provides a wonderful opportunity for women to built their confidence through this show, I am fortunate for the opportunity to watch this event firsthand.”
Shamim Ara Nipa said: “There is a stigma that ‘a dancer can never be a star’ but my work with Lux proved the saying wrong.”
Javed Akter, the brand building director of Unilever Bangladesh described several aspects of the contest after a choreography presented by the previous Lux Channel-i Superstar contestants, to the Lux theme song Dana Mele Dao Ekhoni. Seven splendid beauties wore the “Face of Lux” crown till date.
