Two people, including a four-year-old child, have been killed as a passenger bus ran a battery-run auto-rickshaw over in the city's Bohodderhat area on Monday evening.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said a speedy-driven passenger bus rammed the battery-run auto-rickshaw down around 7:30pm, leaving two people dead on the spot.
Following the incident, agitated locals set the killer bus on fire.
Confirming the deaths, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (North Zone) Md Sahidullah said: “Police foiled the arson attempt and took the situation under control.”
No report of injuries or arrest has been filed till filing the report at 8pm.
