Pointing finger at a specific "influential" family, Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy has alleged that the family was responsible for every incident of killing, abduction or disappearance in Narayanganj.
She made the allegation while addressing a sit-in demonstration that has been staging by Narayanganj City Corporation representatives since Sunday, the first day of their 48-hours strike protesting the abduction and killing of the seven men including Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam.
“The people of Narayanganj could not protest the misdeeds of a family for the last 25 years, however they got united after Twaki's murder,” Ivy said.
Regarding the recent killing and abduction spree in Narayanganj, she said: "They [the family] are leading such activities from behind the scene."
She further said the days are to come soon when the people of Narayanganj will unitedly stand together in order to get rid of the family.
Twaki, an A-Level student at the ABC International School and son of former president of the Narayanganj Sangskritik Jote Rafiur Rabbi, went missing on Mar 6.
Two days later the teenager’s body was found in a canal next to the Shitalakkha River.
Rabbi has been alleging Awami League leader AKM Shamim Osman for his son’s murder.
