A dawn-to-dusk hartal called by District Bar Association was observed in the district of Narayanganj on Sunday in protest against the abductions and killings of seven people, including senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar.
The hartal started at 6am and continued till 6pm.
Vehicular movement completely halted in the city due to the hartal.
However, the movement of vehicles on Dhaka-Chittagong highway remained normal.
Police, BGB and other law enforcement agencies were deployed in the key points of the city to maintain the law-and-order situation.
On Thursday, seven bodies were recovered from the Shitalakhya river at Kilagachia area under Bondor police station in the district.
Earlier, they had been abducted from the city by the miscreants.
