Men’s team reach second phase of World TT

Bangladesh men’s team finished runners-up in Group 5 in the World Table Tennis Championship by winning three of the four group matches at Tokyo, Japan yesterday.

Bangladesh beat Congo and lost to group champions Jamaica yesterday. Earlier they beat Madagascar and Botswana. As the group runners-up Bangladesh will now feature in the knock-out stage and fight for a ranking of 97 to 105.

Meanwhile the women’s team failed to reach the knockout stage losing two of their five matches in Group 4. The women paddlers won against Syria, Botswana and Costa Rica but lost to group winners Laos and Seychelles.
