Police have put up barricades on the entry points of Narayanganj apprehending untoward situation in the area centring deaths of six abductees.
Police have put up barricades on the entry points from the sides of Jatrabari and Kanchpur areas that has halted the vehicular movement in Dhaka-Chittagong on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Narayaganj around 7am to avoid untoward situation in the area.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shohidul Islam said: “We are apprehending that the situation might get out of control in the area after the namaz-e-janaza of the abductees.”
In the morning, police recovered one more body from Shitalakhya river in Kolagachia area of Narayanganj district.
Bandar police station Sub-Inspector Abu Taleb said: “We are suspecting that the body might be of abducted Jahangir as they hands and legs of the deceased has been tied up in the same way like the bodies of the abductees which were recovered on Wednesday.”
The number of dead bodies recovered from the river has reached to seven on Thursday morning, however it is yet to be confirmed if the body was of Nazrul's associate Jahangir.
On Wednesday, police recovered the bodies of six people who were abducted from the district earlier.
They were identified as ward councillor Nazrul Islam, Nazrul’s chauffer Moniruzzaman Swapan and associates Liton and Tajul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarker and Chandan’s chauffer Ibrahim. Nazrul’s associate Jahangir is still missing.
On Sunday, councillor Nazrul, his chauffer and three associates, and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his chauffer Ibrahim were abducted.
