The agitating locals and supporters of the slain Narayanganj City Corporation councillor, Nazrul Islam, have put barricade on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway following the recovery of the decomposed body of the panel mayor.
Witnesses said the angry mob took to the street after getting the news of the body recovery and set fire at a CNG-filing station in Mouchak area adjacent to the highway in the evening.
Besides, they have set ablaze a number of tires on the highway.
According to our corresopondent, the agitating mob were staging demonstration in the area till filing the report at 7:45pm.
Earlier in the day, police have recovered the bodies of Nazrul and his two close aides from Shitalakhya river at Kilagachia area.
Later, the law enforcers have recovered two more bodies from the river. Of the bodies one was of senior lawyer Chandan's driver Ibrahim.
On April 27, Nazrul was abducted along with his four close aides. In the meantime, senior lawyer Chandan sarker and his driver Ibrahim was picked up by miscreants from the city area.
Nazrul's followers have been staging demonstration everyday since Sunday blocking the Dhaka-Chittagong highway and Dhaka-Narayanganj link road protesting the incident.
