Blogger Asif among '100 information heroes'

Blogger Asif Mohiuddin has been placed in the maiden list of “100 information heroes” published by the Reporters Without Borders ahead of World Press Freedom Day 2014.

“Through their courageous work or activism, these 100 heroes helped to promote the freedom enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” a statement said.

“Through his articles on religious fundamentalism, education policy, religious institutions, oppression on women and the sharia, Mohiuddin evolved from free thinker to public enemy number one.”

“These 'information heroes are a source of inspiration to all men and men who aspire freedom,” Reporters Without Borders' Secretary General Christophe Delorie said.

Asif Mohiuddin was “overwhelmed” with the selection, as interpreted from his Facebook status. He thanked Reporters Without Borders for the selection.

Others selected as “information heroes” include Julian Assange, Anabel Hernandez, Ismail Saymaz, Hassan Ruvakuki, and others.
