Bangladesh and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to set up a 1320 megawatt coal-based power plant in Maheshkhali of Cox's Bazar by 2019.
Power Development Board Chairman Abduhu Ruhulullah and China Huadian Hongcong Compnay Limited President Zhiao Long Jun signed the deal from the respective sides at Bidyut Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
The 1320 megawatt power plant will have two units, with equal production and will be based on imported coal.
