A prisoner of Kishoreganj District Jail has reportedly committed suicide on Monday noon.
The deceased Mamun Mia, 29, son of Chunnu Mia, hailed from Bhairabpur village in Bhairab upazila, was one of prime accused in a police murder case.
Kishoreganj jail Super Anwarul Haque said: “Mamun was rushed to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital in critical condition as he jumped from the roof of the fourth floor of the jail in absence of jail guards on Sunday morning.”
He succumbed to his injuries at 12noon at the hospital, he added.
Mamun was an accused of Sub-Inspector Mustafizur Rahman murder case. The SI of Bhairab police station was killed on February 18, 2009.
SM Alam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj said, a probe body would be formed after getting written information from the jail super.
The body has been kept to Kishoreganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
