Wanted Jamaat leader arrested in Bogra

A Jamaat-e-Islami leader accused in at least 20 cases of sabotage and murder who was “highly involved with the chaos in Bogra town in February and March last year” has been arrested.

Bogra town Jamaat Secretary Ershadul Bari Ershad was arrested from Naimail area on Monday, Bogra Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Abu Haidar Mohammad Faizur said.

“He is accused in several cases of attacks on police through Bogra town and vandalism on police stations and outposts,” he said.

“He was involved directly or indirectly in almost all the sabotage activities carried out in Bogra from the end of February through March of last year,” he added.

“We are searching if there are more cases against him.”

The local unit Jamaat leader is also an accused in the murder of one Abdullah in Jamilnagar area.
