Ailing Sylhet mayor shifted to Dhaka

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury has been shifted to United Hospital in the capital for better treatment on Saturday morning.

Earlier, he was admitted to Mound Adora Hospital in Sylhet after suffering a cardiac arrest on Friday night.

Ariful Haque is undergoing treatment at the hospital under chief consultant of Cardiology department Dr Mominuzzaman.

Moin Uddin Monju, public relations officer of Sylhet City Corporation, said condition of the city mayor remained unchanged. Doctors would give update after conducting angiogram.

The mayor’s family sources said he suddenly became ill and suffered chest pain while on his way back to home after attending the monthly meeting of Sylhet Diabetic Hospital around 07:45pm on Friday.
