Temperature begins to fall

The record high temperature sweeping across the country for the last few days dropped yesterday afternoon due to the presence of a moderate southerly wind in the atmosphere, the Met office said.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department yesterday predicted further drop in the temperature at night due to the effect of light wind with drizzling.

“A moderate southerly wind along with huge evaporation yesterday afternoon caused rainfall with gust at some places of the country,” said Sanaul Haque, a meteorologist.

The southerly wind will reduce the country’s ongoing heat wave and the temperature will fall gradually.

In Dhaka, the highest temperature yesterday was recorded 39 degrees Celsius at noon while at 6pm it came down to 31.2 degrees due to the sudden drizzles along with gust in the periphery of the capital.

The highest temperature in the county yesterday was recorded 42 degrees Celsius in Chudanga.
