A man has been killed and four others have been injured when truck knocked down a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the capital’s Purana Paltan intersection on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as auto-rickshaw driver Abdul Alim, 35.
One of the injured, chicken trader Ahamad Ullah said: “A recklessly driven truck knocked down a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Purana Paltan intersection around 5:30am, killing one on the spot and injuring four others,”
He said they were heading towards Kaptan Bazar from Tejgaon in order to purchase chicken.
The injured were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Paltan police station Sub-Inspector Shashanka Paul said they were trying to inform the family and relatives of the deceased driver. His body has been kept in the hospital morgue.
