Swechchhasebok League leader shot in city

A Swechchhasebok League leader has been shot in the capital's Anandanagar area in Badda early Wednesday.

The injured was identified as Nur-un-Nobi, 35, vice-president of Swechchhasebok League's Badda unit. He was a contractor by his profession.

Police and Nobi's relatives said a gang of unidentified armed criminals shot him at Anandanagar area in Merul Badda around 4am.

Badda police station Sub-inspector Abdul Jalil said: “We have heard about the matter, however the cause of the attack and the attackers are yet to be identified.”

“We are looking into the matter to be sure of whether there was any political rivalry or business related feuds that were linked to the incident,” he said.

Some of the relatives of Nur-un-Nobi said he was supervising the activities of unloading stones when he was called out of his house over phone by someone and shot.

Later, he was admitted to the DMCH in a critical condition.
