Problems like river erosion and power crisis in Bhola will be resolved soon, said Tofail Ahmed, commerce minister and member of parliament from Bhola 1 constituency, at a meeting in the district office of Awamil League in Bhola yesterday at 11:30am.
The minister also said the construction of a river dam to prevent river erosion will be finished before summer, adding that the necessary funds have already been approved.
He said river erosion will be history in Bhola when work under the ORIO project funded by the Netherlands government is finished.
At the meeting, the minister asked the Water Development Board officials to make sure that the dam construction is completed soon so that people do not have to suffer from the flood this year.
About the power crisis, the minister said the out-of-service gas-fuelled rental power plant will be fixed and up and running by April 25.
The meeting, presided by Awami League General Secretary Abdul Momin Tulu, was part of the minister’s one-day tour in Bhola after several months.
The party activists also greeted the newly elected Sadar upazila chairman Mosharraf Hossain with flowers at the meeting.
