Comic character Archie to die in July

The 70-year-old saga of Archie comics will end with the “iconic” character Archie Andrews sacrificing himself heroically for a friend this July.

The series will end this July with the publication of Life With Archie volume 36, what an announcement by Archie Comics has said.

“Archie will sacrifice himself heroically while saving the life of a friend in the pages of July’s Life With Archie # 36,” the announcement said.

The issue will jump a year after college and will focus on his friends Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Reggy honouring the legacy of their red-headed pal.

Archie first appeared in comics back in the days of 1941 and went on to become a colourful icon across the globe.

“We have been building up to this moment since publication of Life With Archie five years ago,” Archie Comics publisher and Goldwater said in a statement.

“We knew that any book that was telling the story of Archie’s life as an adult had to also show his final moment,” the co-CEO of the publishing house added.
