Little children have vowed to establish a non-communal and democratic Bangladesh imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War.
The little angles took the oath yesterday in a programme titled Muktir Utshab organised by Liberation War Museum on the Dhaka University central playground.
The programme was inaugurated amid hoisting national flag and singing the national anthem at 9am while renowned sculptor Ferdousi Priovashini administered the oath to the children.
Prof Mohammad Zafar Iqbal told the children: ‘’Our duty is over and now you have to shoulder the responsibility to guide the nation.’’
“To love one’s country is the most pleasant feeling in one’s life, there is nothing that can be compared to it. You [the youths] have to learn how to love your motherland,” he added.
He urged the youths to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War and learn the real history of the struggle for independence to fight against anti-liberation and communal forces.
AKM Mojammel Haque, minister of liberation affairs, at the programme told the children to work hard to build the nation.
While addressing the function Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit said: ‘’The youth of our country have to play the most pivotal role in the fight against evil forces.’’
He also thanked the trustee members who generously contributed to the establishment of the Museum.
Meanwhile, eight trustee members of the Liberation War Museum in 1996 planned to establish a permanent liberation war museum and the construction of which is now going on at Agargaon in the capital.
Eight trustee members are Sarwar Ali, Aly Jaker, Rabiul Hussain, Ziauddin Tarek Ali, Asaduzzaman Noor, Mofidul Haque and Akku Chowdhury.
Hundreds of students from different schools of Dhaka took part in the programme. A cultural programme was also organised to mark the occasion.
